GUIDANCE FOR THE TOURIST
1.
Variable weather
It is good to check a meteorological service to prepare your trip to the mountain municipality. However, despite good weather being announced, it is always good to bring a raincoat and an extra jacket.
The lowest temperatures are in the months of November to February, reaching temperatures of 0 to 5 degrees (in some early mornings).
2.
Fog
In the autumn and winter months, fog tends to appear, obscuring the visibility of the road. If you wear magnifying glasses, consider not forgetting them.
3.
Long walks
Most of the tourist sites in the municipality of San JoaquÃn require walking long distances and uphill. It is highly recommended to come with a comfortable enough shoe, bring a cap or hat, and bring bottled water and a snack to keep you energized.
And if you are hypertensive or have a health situation that prevents you from making physical efforts, plan an alternative route in advance.
4.
Store closing time
Compared to the city, many San Joaquin stores and services close early. Generally, shops begin to close at 6 pm. Grocery stores close, on average, at 8 p.m., and restaurants close at 10 p.m.
There are no oxxos.
5.
Health services
There is a health center and an IMSS clinic in the municipal seat, as well as three private doctors.
In the Maravillas community there is a health clinic, but with a schedule from Monday to Friday from 8 am to 2:30 pm
6.
Food services
In the municipal seat there are 7 restaurants, in addition to the local market, where there are 4 to 5 stalls of gorditas and quesadillas.
There are 8 butchers, where you can find pork carnitas or beef chicharrones from 10 am to 3 pm.
7.
Mechanical services
There are 8 mechanics in the municipality. 3 electric. And two talacheras. 4 auto parts.
8.
Parking lot
The streets of downtown San JoaquÃn are narrow and there are generally not enough spaces to park. So you will have to park on the main streets and walk around town.
9.
Phone signal
On the road section where the curves to San JoaquÃn begin, there is no telephone signal, until almost reaching the municipal seat.
In the Maravillas community there is no signal, but there are already internet chips
10.
Public transport
If you do not bring your own vehicle, to go to the tourist sites, you will have to use vans, which the inhabitants of the region call "raiteras". They are like taxis but in the form of a double cabin pickup.
The cost of this transport is fixed at the ticket office, although it may vary depending on the particularities of the trip.
To cite an example, a truck charges approximately $ 140 to the Maravillas waterfalls, and 4 people can climb inside the cabin and another 6 in the box.

Lodging
There are enough places to stay to be able to choose between different options: around 5 hotels, around 11 areas with cabins, as well as hostel-type rooms.
Only during the dates of the Huapango Contest is the lodging system saturated and you have to reserve well in advance or take the alternative places that are improvised for the event.
